
Bills Name Joe Brady Head Coach in Thursday Press Conference
The Buffalo Bills officially introduced Joe Brady as their new head coach during a press conference Thursday , taking place January 29 . Brady signed a five-year deal with the organization after being promoted from his role as offensive coordinator.
At 36 years old, Brady becomes the youngest head coach in the NFL , born September 23, 1989 . The Bills conducted nine interviews during a six-day search process before deciding to hire their only in-house candidate .
During the press conference, Brady expressed his connection to Buffalo, stating the city "changed his life" and saying "There is no where else I'd rather be than right here, right now" . After his opening remarks, Brady turned to players in attendance and said "I love you guys, and go Bills" .
Coaching Background and Recent Success
Brady joined the Bills organization in 2022 as quarterbacks coach before being promoted to offensive coordinator in Week 11 of 2023 . Since Brady's promotion, the Bills have ranked first in EPA per play (0.14) and second in points per game (29.1) .
Under Brady's offensive coordination, quarterback Josh Allen won his first MVP award in 2024, and running back James Cook III finished with the rushing title in 2025 . The Bills had nine games with 30-plus points this season, tied with the Rams for most in the NFL .
Press Conference Details
Brady indicated he plans to continue calling plays as head coach . When discussing his philosophy, Brady stated "Josh Allen is the best player in the NFL, and I have to grow" and "All I want is for him to get everything he deserves" .
General manager Brandon Beane said the Bills treated Brady like an external candidate, with Brady calling it one of the hardest interviews he had . The team is currently in the process of selecting coordinators .
The Bills completed their 2025 season with a Wild Card victory over Jacksonville (27-24) before losing to Denver in the Divisional Round (30-33 in overtime) on January 17, ending their playoff run.
